Dear Parents and Students,
Mandala Arts & Culture and the Jai Govinda Dance Academy teachers are looking forward to beginning another season of dance classes with both old and new students! In order to provide the optimal learning environment for students, we will be restructuring classes so that students are in a class that best meets their individual needs.
The first day of class (Saturday, September 19, 2015) will be used to allocate students to one of three different levels:
Beginner 1 (Teacher: Raneeta Gopal/Arno Kamolika)
Beginner 2 (Teacher: Rena Boggaram/Arno Kamolika)
Intermediate (Teacher: Jai Govinda)
On September 19, 2015, all new and current beginner 1, 2 and intermediate students will be asked to assemble on the 4th floor of the dance centre from 10:30am to 11:30am. During this time academy teachers Arno, Raneeta, Rena and Jai Govinda will be leading an adavu class. All students will be assessed on their ability and comfort with doing a subset of adavus. During this process, teachers will determine what class is most suitable for students. Students who are completely new to bharata natyam will automatically be placed in Beginner 1.
It is mandatory for all parents to attend the first class with their children on September 19, as this is the official day of registration. All parents may watch through the window of the studio. Following the teachers’ deliberation on which groups students will be allocated to, teachers will then instruct parents and students of the time and studio that they will need to come to for the following week.
Through this new process our intention is to allocate students to the class that will best meet their needs. Our hope is for all students to excel and grow as bharata natyam dancers.
