New Works is pleased to present acclaimed Toronto-based dance artist, Nova Bhattacharya and her company, Ipsita Nova Dance Projects, as part of its Dance Allsorts 2010/11 season. This intimate presentation, entitled Sleight of Hand, features a selection of Nova’s solo work, exploring the spectrum between classical bharatanatyam and contemporary dance. This performance is accompanied with the dexterous hand playing of live tabla by master percussionist, Ed Hanley.

As with all Dance Allsorts performances, New Works will be hosting a workshop the following Saturday, April 2nd, 3:30 – 5:00pm. Since Nova will be back in Toronto, Jai Govinda, Artistic Director of Mandala Arts and Culture, will be stepping in as guest instructor, teaching beginner basics of the gestural language of bharatanatyam.

Workshop: Saturday, April 2nd, 3:30-5pm. $5 Register at the Roundhouse.
