Happy New Year!

Mandala Arts and Culture will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 2pm to 3pm at the Scotiabank Dance Centre.  All members, parents, and students are invited to attend.

Also on that day, the Jai Govinda Dance Academy will have open doors to all of the bharata natyam classes for guests to sit and watch from 10am to 2pm. You can bring family and friends to watch the classes, but kindly not that you must have a membership with Mandala Arts and Culture to attend the AGM at 2pm.

Saturday February 11, 2012:

10am   Beginner 1 – 7th floor –  Raneeta Gopal

10am   Beginner 2 – 4th floor – Rena Boggaram

11am    Intermediate – 4th floor – Jai Govinda

12pm    Yoga – 4th floor – Jacci Collins

2pm      AGM - 4th floor – Mandala Arts & Culture

Dear students and parents,

 The Academy’s bharata natyam classes will resume again on Saturday January 14 – 2012. New registration forms and fee will have to be paid at the reception desk of the Scotiabank Dance Centre. The schedule of classes remains the same as 2011.
 Those who take weekly private classes with Jai Govinda and Rena Boggaram are requested to confirm the day and time of their classes with their respective teachers. Those classes will start from Monday January 16 – 2012 onwards.

Global Dance Connections: 10x10x10 October 12-15

Our Global Dance Connections contemporary dance series begins with 10x10x10: Ten choreographers. Ten composers. Ten new works. It pairs ten local choreographers with music by ten BC composers, to create an evening of ten-minute works inspired by their personal experiences of Vancouver.

The choreographers and composers are: Amber Funk Barton and John Korsrud; Delia Brett/MACHiNENOiSY and Jacqueline Leggatt;Byron Chief-Moon/CoyoteArts and Jeffrey Ryan; Jennifer Clarke and Leslie Uyeda; Noam Gagnon/Co. Vision Selective and Ed Henderson; James Gnam/the plastic orchid factory and Stephen Chatman; Joe Laughlin/Joe Ink and Marcus Goddard; Su-Feh Lee/battery opera performance and Barry Truax; Josh Martin/The 605 Collective and Tobin Stokes; and Alvin Erasga Tolentino/Co.ERASGA and François Houle.

JAI GOVINDA DANCE ACADEMY. NEW SEASON! Our new season of bharata natyam classes will start on September 10 – 2011 at The Scotiabank Dance Centre. This season, a new beginner’s class has been added to welcome a new group of students. Beginners 1 – 10 a.m. Beginners 2 – 10 a.m. Intermediate – 11 a.m. Yoga (open to all students) – Noon. Advance – 1 p.m. Choreography – 2 p.m. Registration for this new season of classes will be done from 9.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the reception desk of the Dance Centre on September 10. Students who take private and semi private classes with Jai Govinda and Rena Boggaram are requested to confirm the day and time of their classes with their respective teachers.
